Senior colorist Ben McIntire brings 20 years of experience as a director of photography to his color grading studio Small Sea.

   Ben McIntire is an American director of photography and colorist living in Stockholm, Sweden. He has graded many feature length and short films, both documentary and narrative. His work for television has been seen on Amazon Prime and SVT. He has graded commercials for Froda, Coop, American Express, the NBA, Soho House, Fjällraven and Snickers.

   Early in his career, he received two New York Daytime Emmy's in 2010 and 2011 for his docu-series work for MSG Network. "Electric: The Film", a 30-minute Vice/Smirnoff sponsored-doc he DoP'd, won the 2016 Webby for Best Long Form Documentary (Branded). "One Plus: New Beginnings", a branded documentary series he DoP'd and graded won a Webby before being expanded into a limited run series for Amazon Prime in 2022.

He was the DoP and colorist for the 2021 feature documentary The King of North Sudan, produced by Rough House Pictures (Eastbound and Down, The Righteous Gemstones). The film premiered at The Vancouver International Film Festival and was sold for international distribution in 2022.

 

   He also was the colorist for World Economic Forum's "Back to Zero", which won a 2023 Webby for Best Long Form Documentary (Activism Category). The short films he has graded have gone on to win many festival top prizes, including Leiden International Film Festival,  Cindependent Film Festival, Hudson Valley Film Festival, Buffalo International Film Festival and Queens World Film Festival. The sponsored short documentary "Lecanvey Lakers" (NBA Films) won two Kinsale Shark Awards in 2025 (Best Documentary over 5 minutes and Grand Prix-Branded Content).
