Ben McIntire is an American director of photography and colorist living in Stockholm, Sweden. He is best known for his traveling documentary and advertising work. Previously, Ben spent more than a decade working as a freelance DP and director in New York City, directing and shooting ads for Facebook, Intel, Google and Malibu Rum, among many others.
Within documentary, he has filmed TV shows for Vice Media and History Channel, as well as completing many feature and short documentaries. He was the DoP and colorist for the 2021 feature documentary The King of North Sudan, produced by Rough House Pictures (Eastbound and Down, The Righteous Gemstones). The film premiered at The Vancouver International Film Festival and was sold for international distribution in 2022. He has also been Unit DoP and/or camera operator on several notable feature documentaries: McEnroe (Showtime, 2022), Red, White and Wasted (Hulu, 2019) and Sremm Holiday (Tidal, 2017).
Early in his career, he received two New York Daytime Emmy's in 2010 and 2011 for his docu-series work for MSG Network. "Electric: The Film", a 30-minute Vice/Smirnoff sponsored-doc he DoP'd, won the 2016 Webby for Best Long Form Documentary (Branded). He also was the colorist for World Economic Forum's "Back to Zero", which won a 2023 Webby for Best Long Form Documentary (Activism Category).
He works as a colorist from his studio in Stockholm. Live remote grading capabilities allow him to grade for clients all over the world. (see more on that below:)
